Jack Pasternak

After graduating from McGill University with his B.Eng and PhD in Chemical Engineering, Jack worked at Imperial Oil/Exxon Corporate for 32 years in various positions including: Polyvinyl Chloride Plastics Technology Manager (Esso/Exxon Worldwide); Laboratory Director and Division Manager in Exxon Corporate Research (New Jersey, USA); and Division Manager Imperial Oil Research Lubes and Specialties Products Technology.

For 10 years, Jack was Executive Director of Environmental Science and Technology Alliance Canada (ESTAC), an industry/university/government alliance that funded commercially relevant research at Canadian universities. Jack is the holder of 22 patents, is the recipient of the US Inventors Hall of Fame Medallion and received the ERCO Award for outstanding contribution to Chemical Engineering in Canada. He is a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada.

Jack has held various professional positions. He was elected Vice President of the National Executive of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering, was an Honorary Lecturer for the Chemistry Department of the University of Western Ontario, a member of the Lambton College Chemical Technology Advisory Committee and a member of the University of Windsor Research Council. He was elected to the Mayor's Honour List for outstanding service to the City of Sarnia and has recently been inducted into the YMCA Fellowship of Distinction as the 37th member since 1917 in Sarnia.
